Financial Crisis or Crisis of Civilization
The financial crisis was declared in full force in 2008, has been described by many as a crisis of capitalism and by others as a crisis of civilization, which is expressed not only in the field of finance, but also in food In the environment, health, climate and many other aspects of human life and the planet. These crises have specific effects on nature and the environment. The social crisis was finally discharged on measures with high environmental cost in the short or medium term become social crisis.
Traditionally, capitalism has tended to over-exploitation of natural resources out of the crisis and today it appears that this trend is repeated for that reason is a task for ecologists look at the crisis that we face. To elaborate on these issues in Quito we met a group of people from Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Mexico and Ecuador from different perspectives, from 17 to 19 December 2008. Here we collect some of the memories of those days of discussion and debate as well as other contributions that have been written since on the subject. We hope with this publication to make a contribution to a better understanding of the civilization crisis in order to build roads to deal with it.
