Posted on November 25, 2010 by Justin Ridge

In traditional industries most jobs require employees to learn to perform routine tasks, most of which do not change over time. In general, learning begins when a worker starts a new job. In the knowledge economy is changing so fast that workers constantly need to acquire new skills like first aid course or fire safety course. Firms can no longer trust that their primary source of new skills and knowledge comes from recent graduates or people newly enrolled. What they really need are workers who are able and willing to update their skills throughout their life cycle. Countries must meet these requirements generating education and training systems that equip people with the skills they need.

The private sector is playing a role worldwide increasingly important

Traditionally, the public sector has been the supplier of most educational services. Today that is changing. In most middle-income countries, the private education sector like PTLLS course is growing, driven by such poor quality and coverage of public education, also the need to seek relief from tax burdens and promote innovation. Since 1995 the number of students enrolled in higher education in Brazil has grown by more than 70% and most of this growth has been in private colleges and universities currently have 71% of the tuition. In China, 500 new institutions devoted to higher education were established between 1995 and 1999.

The education given by the private sector in countries with transition economies is growing in the same way. Only in Poland, there are 195 private educational institutions serving more than 377,000 students. Private business schools also unthinkable in Eastern Europe 10 years ago, are thriving: in 1998 there were 91 private business schools in Poland, 29 in the Czech Republic, 18 in Romania and 4 in Bulgaria.

Same time have come to complement and challenge traditional institutions, new providers (private sector trainers, physical intervention training, virtual universities, international providers, corporate universities, brokers content, educational publishers and media companies). This private sector growth reflects the rising demand for more and better education as well as dissatisfaction with traditional systems of education and training.
